Jeep Wrangler Jeep Wrangler has been named a one-of-a-kind vehicle from 1987 until 1992. The Wrangler/YJ was built in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It was then built in the Toledo South Assembly plant until mid-2006, after which the plant was slowly torn down. The Wrangler is currently produced at Jeep's Toledo North Assembly plant in Toledo, Ohio. The name "Wrangler" was not used in Canada, as it was a name of a Chevy pickup up yonder. So the 1987 to 1995 models of the Jeep Wrangler were called YJ; and 1997 to 2006 models were called TJ. The model names of YJ and TJ are used throughout the world in the Jeep enthusiast community to differentiate between models instead of using the term "Wrangler". Jeep capability is legendary… over 67 years of experience, real-life testing and state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing processes. It’s no surprise that the Jeep brand is so well respected with their relentless pursuit of quality, durability and rugged capabilities. Popular Mechanics magazine crowned the 2008 Wrangler Rubicon with an Automotive Excellence Award for Off-Road Ability. According to PM's Ben Stewart, "On extreme off-road trails the Jeep's systems work together so well, it's almost like cheating. This is simply the gold standard of four-wheel drive." The Detroit News selected 100 of its readers to tour the North American International Auto Show and choose winners in categories like "Sexiest Vehicle" "Grooviest Wheels" and "Best Value." They were quick to name the 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon "Most Awesome Off-Road Vehicle." The Wranglers "Unlimited" trim is exactly what the name says: an unlimited version that features the best that Dodge has to offer in its Jeeps. The Wrangler Unlimited has a 46 cubic feet of cargo space, enough room to accommodate five passengers and a spacious 37 inches of rear leg room. Jeep Wrangler earned the coveted Five Star (highest) - U.S. Government rating for frontal-impact crash testing. Also - both passive and active safety features, such as advanced front multistage airbags, unique Electronic Stability Program, (ESP) and Antilock Brake Systems (ABS), have been redesigned to keep you safe for both on and off-road adventures.
